"Kaiapoi Borough School was the first school in Kaiapoi, established in 1873. We have a long history of providing great learning opportunities for students in year 0 to year 8. A book was written for the school's centenary in 1973. It is called "One hundred years learning : Kaiapoi School centenary 1873-1973" and was written by Patricia B. Ward. It describes the formation of the school and includes the building of the Mandeville foot bridge over the then north branch of the Waimakariri River.
